Google this week will launch Google Apps for Your Domain, a software bundle aimed at small and midsize companies. The free, ad-supported package combines Google's E-mail, calendar, and instant messaging with Web site creation software. It will be hosted in Google's data center, branded with customers' domain names, and packaged with management tools for IT pros.
This is obviously still in it's infancy but it is a sign of where Google are heading. Like everything that Google release, it will improve over time and more and more features will be added. While I'm sure Microsoft and co are watching this closely this first up offering won't have them losing any sleep. However they need to keep their eye on the ball or they will lose their grip on this market.
I love it...I signed up for the Beta. The idea of having all our users using Gmail, but with our domain...and able to share calendars and events with the rest of the office...sweet! I know it's still in its infancy, but I like it already.
